Tai Chi for Health - Wednesdays 10 - 10:50  am 

Summer Session - Yang Fundamentals Part 2 cont'd

Learn Yang Tai Chi Fundamentals from the most widely practiced style of Tai Chi in the world. Part 1 combines gentle, slow movements and Tai Chi walking to strengthen muscles and bones, improve coordination and balance, and sharpen mental focus. Part 2 adds turning, kicking, and more complex movements to challenge agility, stamina, and memory. Each class begins with a series of full body warm-ups before proceeding to the low-impact form instruction. Excellent for beginners and all fitness levels, as well as those looking to enhance their current Tai Chi skills. 


Tai Chi for Health Practice Group - Wednesdays  11 - 11:50 am 

Experience with Tai Chi for Health (Sun or Yang style) suggested. This class includes Tai Chi for Arthritis & Fall Prevention, other Tai Chi for Health Sun & Yang style forms, as well as Qigong practices. Hone your skills, while cultivating energy, focus, strength, balance, and stamina.

Class Guidelines

Respectful Environment: Participants and instructors must adhere to the library’s code of conduct, promoting a respectful atmosphere. Please silence digital devices during class.

We celebrate diversity and strive to foster an environment where all participants feel respected, supported, and empowered to learn and grow. Discrimination, harassment, or exclusion of any kind will not be tolerated.

Safety: Participants are encouraged to move and explore their personal and creative range while staying safe for oneself and others. Participants accept full responsibility for any risks involved and understand they are welcome to modify or refrain from anything that is beyond their ability or comfort zone.

Feedback: The instructors welcome your participation and feedback during class. Comments should be diplomatic and respectful. Please attempt to make your comments constructive and of the type that promote a friendly, creative learning environment.

Examples of poetry provided for discussion and instruction must always credit the author and may not be published without their permission.

What is Tai Ku?

We have combined two of our favorite practices into one experience that will open your mind and body to new levels of awareness and creativity. Beginning and ending each session with gentle Tai Chi and Qigong allows us to leave behind overthinking, stress, and worries. From this place of peace, we can write, connect, and explore our world in unexpected ways. Join us if you are ready to try something completely different. No experience is needed and everyone is welcome.


2025 schedule: February 3, March 17, May 5, June 30, July 21, August 4, September 29, October 6, December 29. Each session is 6:30 - 7:30 pm at the Glendale Indianapolis Public Library. Registration required.

Join Cate and Christine for calming and centering movement followed by sharing, creating, and discussing Haiku and other powerful short poetry ith the goal of fostering wellness, creativity, and connection with others.
